Inspiring Bonnie Hartsock Article Featured in Harrisburg Magazine
Our thanks to Wil Shirey for sending along this October 2010 article on our classmate Bonnie Wilson Hartsock in Harrisburg Magazine. The article describes Bonnie's fighting spirit and successful battle against breast cancer 16 years ago.
"I think if nothing else, being faced with a life-threatening illness makes you really appreciative living in the moment. And that's what I do, every single day," Bonnie says.
Thank you, Bonnie, for your inspiring message. And thanks, Wil, for sharing Bonnie's story with your classmates.

"This one makes my heart hurt"

The following obiturary notice appeared in the Billings (MT) Gazette, which also published the photo above:
SHEPHERD — Arthur Joseph Weiss Jr., of Shepherd, was born on Jan. 6, 1942, in Clearfield, Pa., to his father, Arthur Joseph Weiss Sr., and his mother, Irene Weiss. Art was an only child.
Art’s chosen field of interest was nuclear engineering and petroleum engineering, and he received his degree from Penn State University.
His life’s journey included time in real estate, as well as his chosen fields of interest. His expertise in nuclear engineering even brought him notoriety amongst talk show hosts including the likes of Rush Limbaugh. Art was born in Pennsylvania and lived in such places as Texas and Louisiana, finally coming to settle in Montana.
Art was very fond of his cats. He also enjoyed science fiction and is also known locally by the great rock wall he built in his back yard, to which every stone was put in place by hand and without mortar.
Art is preceded in death by his mother, Irene; and a daughter, Christina Maria, who died shortly after birth.
Art is survived by his father, Arthur Joseph Weiss Sr., age 102; his first wife, Barbara Weiss, and their two daughters, Lisa Lewise Weiss of Massachusetts and Kathleen Jeanette Nelson of Maryland, Glenn Ray Nelson and Nicole Maureen Nelson, grandchildren; and Art’s second wife, Nancy Porter.
Art passed from his earthly existence on April 11, 2011, due to complications following surgery.
A public visitation (was) held Friday, April 15, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Smith Downtown Chapel, located at 925 S. 27th St. A memorial service will be held at a later time.
