Class of '59 Picnic To Be Held Aug. 17
As the years roll on, our time together becomes ever more precious.
The Clearfield Area High School Class of 1959 helps keeps the memories and friendships alive with our annual informal summer get-togethers.
Our summer event again this year is an old-fashioned family picnic to be held August 17 in Clearfield.
Date: Saturday, August 17, 2013
Place: Knights of Columbus, 512 Arnold Ave, Clearfield.
Time: We plan to eat around between12 noon and 1 p.m. Of course, you may choose your own meal time, earlier or later. Plan to come early and stay late.
Dress: Informal
What to Bring: Same as last year - picnic lunch, drinks, plates, cups and tableware for you and your guests, and perhaps a dish or dessert to share.
Charcoal Grills with charcoal and lighting fluid will be provided.
Questions or need further information, please contact Joyce Moody Fletcher at 814-765-0142. Her computer is on the fritz, so it's best to contact her by phone rather than e-mail.
See you on August 17!

I spoke with Bonnie and her husband, Ed, this morning, and she said she is looking forward to seeing her classmates soon.
Bonnie has full command of her speech, and is able to converse by phone.
For those who would like to wish her a full and speedy recovery, here is her contact information:

Remember Keystone Ice Cream, a locally owned firm on Bridge Street in Clearfield?
Delicious ice cream, icy root beer from a giant barrel, giant milkshakes, unusual flavors such as Teaberry? And if you didn't have a refrigerator, they would sell you a big block of ice for your basement or ice box.
Notice how beautifully this ad is written. (Click on photo to read the copy.)
Keystone was owned by classmate Tom O'Day's family - believe it was his grandfather or uncle.
Those were the days.

Lots of Happy Birthdays!
Sorry to be late on these birthdays. The blogmeister has been distracted by family matters and the horrors of the Boston bombings. Our hearts and prayers go out to the victims in Boston and the fire and explosion in West, Texas.

CAHS planning group to meet Saturday, April 13
The CAHS planning group will meet on Saturday,
April 13, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the Clearfield Hospital cafeteria.
The location has been moved from the first-floor conference room to the
cafeteria because of a scheduling conflict.
Note to class members, including St.
Francis: Please plan to attend if at all
possible. We’d love to have your
participation and your input. It’s also
a great opportunity to reconnect with your classmates.
By way of review, here are the notes from
the most recent meeting last October:
An informal class picnic will be held Aug. 17, 2013 at the K of C picnic area. A deposit has been paid and the reservation confirmed.
The group voted unanimously to hold a 55th-year reunion at the Clearfield Knights of Columbus. Every effort will be made to minimize the workload for the reunion planners and to keep the cost as low as possible for attendees. A deposit has been paid to the K of C and the reservation confirmed.
Sam Lansberry once again graciously volunteered to hold a Friday night ice-breaker at his and Sandy's country home the evening before the reunion. Thank you, Sam and Sandy!
The Shepherd's Program (in which we attempt to keep in touch with all class members) will continue as the group leaders feel is appropriate. Thank you, Tom O'Day, for heading this effort.
Tom handed the leadership reins to Dennis Mollura for the coming year, Oct. 2012 to Oct. 2013.
Suzy Sherkel Nagle volunteered to serve as chair for the following year, Oct. 2013 to Oct. 2014.
